Exchange Tutorials

The first step to building your portfolio is to buy some cryptos! Here are tutorials for all of the exchanges covered in Module 3.

There are two types of exchanges: those that allow you to  purchase cryptos directly with US dollars and those that only exchange coin to coin.

Most exchanges have generally the same outline, so once you get used to one exchange it will be easier to navigate others

Coinbase

Coinbase is the most popular and user-friendly cryptocurrency exchange. They allow users to exchange dollars for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, or BitcoinCash. Coinbase accepts debit cards or bank account verification.

Gemini

Gemini is a US based exchange which allows users to exchange dollars for Bitcoin or Ethereum. It is less user-friendly than Coinbase, as it is more geared towards crypto traders, but has much lower transaction fees than Coinbase.

Localbitcoins.com

This peer-to-peer platform which allows individuals to buy and sell Bitcoin in person or online. This is a great option for those who cannot access Coinbase or Gemini.

Bittrex

Bittrex is a United States based exchange that has been operating since 2014 in Seattle, Washington.

The exchange is not currently accepting new users (as of 03/18) while it updates its platform for higher functionality.

Binance

Binance is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. The exchange offers many of the most popular coins and charges minimal trading fees.

Binance even has its own cryptocurrency, the Binance Coin (BNB), that allows anyone holding the coin to receive 50% off trading fees when using the site.

Liqui

Though Liqui is one of the smaller exchanges, it is useful because it offers unique coins such as Taas, Waves, and EOS.

If you aren't able to create an account with Bittrex, many of the coins that are available there are also available on Liqui.

Cryptopia

Cryptopia is a small, New Zealand based cryptocurrency exchange. Cryptopia is a unique exchange and offers a lot of coins that aren’t available on other exchanges. Besides the exchange, they also have forums and a market place that accepts cryptocurrency.
